Killer Unicorns is a Los Angeles based comedy show born out the need for a safe place to share jokes and tell stories within the LGBT community. Killer Unicorns has been featured at venues such as The Ruby, NerdMelt, and has now made a home at a beautiful art gallery, Lyd & Mo Photography Studio, which is nestled in downtown Pasadena, next to a huge parking garage. Celebrities that have graced the stage include Helen Hong (Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, Parks and Rec, The Arsenio Hall Show), Melanie Vesey (Man On The Moon, Laugh After Dark/Amazon) Marlena Rodrigues (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and Laurie Kilmartin (Late Night with Conan O’Brien). This is a show that celebrates diversity and inclusion!
Julia Pels, founder and producer of KU, is a model, actor comedian and activist. She stars in the Internationally award-winning indie feature “Jesus Rides a Harley,” featured in online magazines like “Faces Of Fortitude,” “VoyageLA” and “Gemma Magazine.”
Maggi Mayfield is the new co-producer with a background in radio and media she is also a voice actor with over twenty audiobooks. She is a parody song writer and plays guitar on stage bringing a unique musical element to the show. She has graced stages across the country including festivals like Ventura Comedy Festival, CU Comedy Festival, The Sno Jam Comedy Festival and Laugh Riot Grrrl. She has toured nationally and opened for David Spade and David Koechner and is finishing her first short film “Vegas Is Calling.”
